Gophers improve to 6-3 with a 20-13 victory over Nebraska. Hosting Northwestern next.

After starting the game slow and falling into a 10-0 halftime deficit, the Gophers turned to backup QB Athan Kaliakmanis and the usual workhorse, Mo Ibrahim, to eventually win 20-13 over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy stays in Minnesota! Let's go! Suck it, Nebraska! Mo Ibrahim extended his Nation leading 17 straight 100+ yard rushing performances. Just an incredible streak he's got going that almost seems to be going unnoticed. I don't know what has happened to QB Tanner Morgan, but he just doesn't have IT anymore and Athan seemingly is giving the Gophers the better chance to win lately at QB. It will be interesting to see who plays the rest of the season.

Next up, the Gophers head back home to face the 1-8 Northwestern Wildcats on what will be a blistering cold 25 degree game in downtown Minneapolis. I hope the Gophers don't overlook the Wildcats, because I have a feeling the weather is going to keep this one closer than we are expecting. Northwestern is a very well-coached team and led by Maple Grove's own RB Evan Hull. Hull can break off big runs at any moment. The Gophers are the better team and come into this game as 17.5 point favorites. With the weather, I predict a 24-13 victory for the Gophers. Go Gophers, lets get to 7-3 as we head into the final 2 games of the season against our 2 biggest rivals!
