Minnesota Gopher Football 2021
Updated: Sep 23, 2021
The Gophers kicked off the 2021 season with strong showing at home vs Ohio State, but ultimately lost after a big 4th quarter by Ohio State while also losing one of the Nation's top Running Backs, Mo Ibrahim, in the 3rd quarter. The Gophers followed that up with a close win over Miami (Ohio). We were able to see RB Treyson Potts step in and perform very well with 178 rushing yards and 2 TD's. Tanner Morgan hasn't had his best Wide Receiver (Chris Autman-Bell) during the first 2 games, but it allowed him to build chemistry with his newer Receivers (Dylan Wright who transferred from Texas A&M and Daniel Jackson). The Gophers travel to Boulder, CO for week 3 to face a very tough defense in the Colorado Buffalos. The Gophers will try to extend their nation-leading 20 straight non-conference victories. Colorado comes into this matchup as 2.5-point favorites and this game should see the deciding outcome come down to Minnesota's offense vs Colorado's stout defense. Row The Boat, Ski-U-Mah, GO GOPHERS!
Update: I believe Autman-Bell, Dylan Wright, Treyson Potts, and Jordan Howden (possibly returning after missing last week) will prove to be too much for this Colorado defense. My prediction is MN will win 27-23 after a hard fought first half, with much of the scoring by both teams coming at the end of the game as the offenses try to keep up with each other.
