Welcome back to Birdman's Blog, everyone! The Vikings started out 0-6 in the preseason under Kevin O'Connell in the first 2 seasons (incredibly pathetic), but last season he led the Vikings to a perfect 3-0. With that said, I will be SOOO PISSED if we lose to the Texans. If we lose, Kevin O'Connell might need to be fired.
We will get our first look at JJ McCarthy since his nice performance against the Raiders last preseason. I would prefer he gets as many reps as possible this preseason, preferably to play the first half of both of the first 2 games of preseason. McCarthy is coming off a torn meniscus and 2 surgeries were required over the last year. He is only 22 years old and could use all of the live reps in a stadium setting as possible. He will probably only play 1 quarter of this first game and then nothing else because NFL coaches are dumb.
I am also looking forward to seeing QB Max Brosmer. He played his final collegiate season at the University of Minnesota and is a perfect example of an under-recruited, yet absolutely capable of making the Vikings roster as AT LEAST the QB3. They can't let Brosmer out the door. I personally think he will beat out both Sam Howell and Brett Rypien. I still don’t understand how Brosmer went undrafted. He was a top 2 QB in the Big Ten last season…Dillon Gabriel seemed like number 1.
Overall, it's fun to have preseason back but don't expect this to be anything special. It'll be fun to see the guys running around in purple at the start, but then I will get back to doing chores like cleaning my oven, sorting my socks, fixing my toilet tank, and going to the dog park and throwing water balloons at the dog owners. A typical Saturday for Birdman. Go Vikings and hopefully there are no major injuries!
I will be coming out with an official Birdman's Blog 2025 NFL Season preview later this month, keep an eye out for that!

Max Brosmer!
