I'm going to keep this one short.
The Minnesota Vikings lost 22-6 to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football... dropping to 1-1 on the season. Yes, the defense gave up a bunch of rush yards, but it was against a top 3 running back in the NFL. The defense also held its ground and prevented any touchdowns until the 4th quarter, giving the Vikings ample opportunity to win this game. Unfortunately, the Vikings have a 22 year old QB who appears to be a worse version of Christian Ponder to this point. Outside of the 4th quarter against the Bears, the other 7 quarters have been some of the worst offensive football I have watched in my 34 years. And quit with the gaslighting nonsense. "He's only 22...did you see Peyton Manning's rookie season?...Plenty of quarterbacks struggled in their first season...blah blah blah." I don't want to hear it. I have watched plenty of football to see which players are good and bad. "Is there anywhere else you'd rather be?" - YES JJ MCCARTHY...I THINK 90% OF US FANS WOULD RATHER BE DOING ANYTHING ELSE OTHER THAN BEING FORCED TO WATCH YOU RUN THE OFFENSE RIGHT NOW. Maybe JJ McCarthy needs to sit longer, but he sure doesn't appear to be a future franchise quarterback. Now he is benched and the Vikings will work on getting back to their winning ways. He was benched. Starting QBs in the NFL aren't ruled out on Monday's for a full month due to an ankle sprain. If JJ McCarthy was throwing for 300+ yards and 3+ TDs in the first 2 games, it would just be an ankle sprain that would get worked on this week as he prepared for the Bengals game this weekend.
Now the other side that annoys me.
The Minnesota Vikings have No Balls and are Chickenshit, meaning they are cowardly and afraid, because they are choosing to press the safe/easy button and start Carson Wentz at QB. Let me be clear, Carson Wentz should absolutley give the Vikings a better chance to win than McCarthy, but it may be much more of a rollercoaster ride. Wentz is going to be a gunslinger. He has the ability to throw for 400 yards and 3 touchdowns, but it might also come with 3 interceptions and a lost fumble. I don't hate the change at quarterback, I am annoyed at the decision considering the other option we have in Max Brosmer. I still believe Max Brosmer will eventually be the Vikings franchise QB and it's only a matter of time. Once Brosmer gets his opportunity, he will never relinquish the starting role. Think of it as a Bledsoe-Brady or Lance-Purdy situation. Max Brosmer is the prototypical Kevin O'Connell Quarterback, perfect for this offense. Brosmer is tall enough, is primarily a pocket passer, has great pocket presence, an extremely fast processor, he is film room grinder, he has one of the fastest releases I have seen, and is incredibly accurate on passes to all three levels. I'm just saying, once he gets his shot, he will not give it up...just watch. For now, Kevin O'Connell and the Vikings leadership is too scared to make that decision this week. I guess that's fine. But I don't want them eventually going back to McCarthy without letting Brosmer get a shot. Competition is good, especially at the highest level! May the best QB win out! This is about winning a Super Bowl! Give us fans the best players so we can get that shot!
In terms of Sunday's game, I think the Vikings will win 24-20. The Vikings are returning Christian Darrisaw, Harrison Smith, and Andrew Van Ginkel. Both teams with be starting backup QB's in Jake Browning and Carson Wentz. I expect to see both teams leaning on the run game with Chase Brown and Jordan Mason. We also get to see who the best WR is in the NFL between former LSU teammates Justin Jefferson and Ja'marr Chase. Who wins the day with backup QBs throwing them the ball?! This has the potential to be a very fun, yet chaotic game...so strap in and enjoy the show! Let's go Vikings! Get back over .500 and have some fun today! BAROOOOO! SKOLLLLL!
