Gophers defeat Indiana 35-14, improve to 7-4

The Minnesota Gophers did exactly what they needed to do to defeat the Indiana Hoosiers. In my preview, I had predicted that the Gophers would win 34-10. The final score ended up being 35-14, in favor of the good guys. With all of Indiana's injuries, the Gophers were able to take advantage of that and win the game in every aspect. This was exactly the type of game the Gophers needed to gain some confidence and momentum moving into the final game of the season, after dropping 2 games winnable games. Let's take a look at some of the highlights from the game:

  • QB Tanner Morgan: 196 yds & 2 TDs

  • RB Ky Thomas: 119 yds & 2 TDs

  • RB Bucky Irving: 70 yds & 1 TD

  • WR Chris Autman-Bell: 44 yds & 2 TDs

  • Defense: 1 sack, 3 tackles for losses, 3 QB hurries, 2 INTs, 77 passing yds, & 141 rushing yds

After Indiana started the game up 7-0, the Gophers were able to find their footing and win the game convincingly. The Gophers will head back home for the regular season finale against our biggest rival, Wisconsin Badgers, in the battle for Paul Bunyan's Axe! Iowa ended up beating Nebraska on Friday, so the Gophers unfortunately will not have a chance to win the Big Ten West this season. This game will still play a deciding factor in who does win the West. If the Gophers win, Iowa will be the Big Ten West champions, but if Wisconsin wins, the Badgers will be the Big Ten West champions. A lot will be on the line in this one and it should be exciting! I will have more on this matchup in the preview.
