The Minnesota Gophers defeated the Buffalo Bulls, 23-10, to start the season 1-0. Buffalo is a very solid MAC team that could end up winning their conference. It was nice to see the Gophers take care of business in an early season contest against a team that was receiving votes in the Top 25 poll. Wiscansin isn't even close to receiving votes, they are trash.
We got ourselves a very good quarterback, folks. RS FR Drake Lindsey threw for 290 yards and 2 touchdowns. It really should have been over 300 yards if it wasn't for 2 blatant drops by his TE. Extremely poised and impressive for a Freshman making his first start. Darius Taylor racked up 177 yards on the ground and through the air. Javon Tracy and Jalen Smith were the stand out wide receivers, accounting for a combined 147 yards through the air. The final score looked closer than it should have been. The Gophers defense didn't allow a Buffalo first down until the 3rd quarter, dominant performance. Lindsey threw a freak interception that bounced off his TE's foot while he was on the ground and the Gophers didn't convert a 4th down tush push early in the game. Even with those 2 plays working against them, the Gophers stuck to the plan and pulled out a solid victory. We even put together a 10 minute drive to end the game and avoided scoring another unnecessary touchdown. I love to see the early season resiliency and respect!
This Saturday, the Gophers will host the Northwestern State Demons. They are neither from the North or West, they are from Louisiana.. geography is definitely not in the curriculum. The Demons are also 1-20 in their last 21 games at the FCS level. This is probably the worst team at the FCS level. Not sure we can call Northwestern State an educational or athletic school... I expect the Gophers to win 65-0 while not allowing the Demons to gain a single 1st down. This includes when our 3rd string players are in. Dominate the game and get ready for California.

Damn, nice prediction
